Police in Nkhotakota have impounded two vehicles and arrested four men for being found with stuff suspected to be Canabis Sativa (Chamba) without license.
Nkhotakota Police Station Public Relations Officer, Williams Kaponda confirmed the development, saying the incident occurred on Thursday, July 26, 2018.
Kaponda identified the suspects as Lex Chilupa (28), Gift Mwenda (42), Malango Beula (41) and Patrick Mzee (38).
“Police have impounded Toyota Sienta registration number ZA 3730 and Toyota Noah registration number MT 6763 which were loaded with 23 bags each weighing 50 kilograms and 151 plastic bags containing the suspected drug,” he said.
Chilupa, Mwenda, Bauleni and Mzee hail from Gochi, Kanyenda, Ngondo and Mzuma villages respectively, all in the area of Chief Kanyenda in Nkhotakota District.
The stuff is awaiting test at Chitedze Research Station to establish if it is indeed Chamba. If it tests positive, then the four will answer a charge of being found in possession of Canabis sativa without license.
