Blantyre City South Constituency independence Parliamentary aspirant candidate Lissie Kamwendo has embarked on a programmes which aims at empowering the youth and women in the country by providing vocational skills and providing village banks respectively.
Kamwendo said that she has projects for the youth like fashion tailoring (clothes) carpentry and joinery, mechanics, computer training so that the youth should be self –reliance.
“My main target as shadow MP for the area is to impart different skills to the youth so that they should be independent,” she said, adding that she also help the orphans at school by buying uniforms and texbooks so that they should be no gaps with well to do pupils.
Lissie Kamwendo also said she construct houses for the elderly people and educates them to reduce level of illiteracy in the country.
“Despite that Parliamentarian’s there main job is to make laws in parliament I also decided to make some developmental projects together with councilors by constructing bridges,” she said.
Kamwendo has also plans to meet Police Officer-in-Charge of to allocate minibus stages in the area as there are not well planned and also to buy cups in schools for porridges for standard 1-3 pupils as they lost their cups almost every day which gives parents headache.
“I also plan to meet head teachers in schools so that they can explain what are their challenges they face’” she said,” adding that her target is also to empower 1,000 youth before voted into power but currently she is helping 400 youth and but in December she plans to help 500 youth.
She pays school fees for the youth in different trainings in her constituency like favoured furniture, Chitawira Furniture, Mitondo, Kudya after seeing that government colleges are expensive.
