The newly elected councilor for Milonde ward in Mulanje South East Constituency is at loggerheads with a Member of Parliament, chiefs, an Area Development Committee (ADC) and party leaders.

Councilor Mike Skinner, who was elected during the April 10 by-elections, was on Tuesday taken to task for alleged insubordination during an emergency meeting at Mulanje Boma.

Chiefs and party leaders openly told Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) that they do not want him.

The bone of contention is the K19.6 million funds for Community Managed Socio-Economic Projects (COMSEP) which Skinner felt MP Naomi Kilekwa plans to swindle.

The councilor reported the matter to Democratic Progressive Party regional office for the south which delegated regional executive committee member Fadweck Matemba to investigate and resolve it.

On Tuesday an emergency meeting co-chaired by the council chairperson councilor Charles Kapata and Mr. Matemba was convened at Mulanje Boma.

At the end of the meeting, the councilor knelt down and apologized to the chiefs, MP, council chairperson, DPP leaders and the ADC.

“I had to apologize for the sake of peace but I don’t think I did wrong to anyone,” challenged Skinner.
