A 14 year old boy died on Tuesday in Nkhotakota after drowning in Chikhwizi River where he had gone to graze cattle.
Nkhotakota Police Station Deputy Publicist, Paul Malimwe, identified the deceased as Talirangwe Thomas from Mgungu village in the area of Senior Chief Mwadzama in the district.
According to the publicist, the deceased who was in the company of his friends went to graze cattle along the river and met his fate when he tried to swim in it.
“It was hot on the day and the deceased decided to cool himself off in the river. Whilst swimming, he unfortunately drowned and died,” Malimwe explained.
He said postmortem conducted at the District Hospital indicated that the deceased died due to suffocation.
