Nationwide demonstrations slated for September 7, this year, have been endorsed by the multi-faith body, the Public Affairs Committee and main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

The party’s publicist Maurice Munthali said they support demonstration because it’s a right enshrined in the country’s Constitution.

The demonstrations are being organised by Human Rights Defenders Coalition over rising corruption, poor governance and economic challenges in the country.

Concurring with MCP, PAC in its communique said peaceful demonstrations falls within people’s democratic rights and such the body supports the arrangement.

The mass demonstrations will be held in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzuzu and Zomba.
