Minister of local government Hon Kondwani Nankhumwa was the guest of honour at a Muslim function called Eid-al-Adha that is commemorated every year in remembrance of Abraham son called Ishmael.
In his speech the minister encouraged the Muslim faithfuls to continue praying for peace and tranquility in this country as the country is going towards general elections.
Government recognises the duties that the Islamic religion is doing in this country through social Services, economic transformation, health sector and other related activities and the president of Malawi will continue to offer space for religious groups to play their active role in the transformational process of this country.
In his remarks the secretary general of MAM sheikh Ali commended president Muthalika and his government for the development that is happening in this country and the freedoms Malawians are enjoying under his leadership.
The sheikh further asked fellow Muslims to go and register in the on going MEC registration.
