Police in Lilongwe are hunting for suspects in connection to the murder of 78-year-old granny identified as Andisen Chimthiko.
According to police, the incident happened in the evening hours of Wednesday at Mtande Woyera village in the area of traditional authority Chimutu in Lilongwe.
The grandson to the deceased, Noah Tsirizani reported to the police that during that day, the deceased went to his farm within the village where he usually spends most of his time.
But the deceased’s family members started to wonder when the granny did not return up until 2100hrs hence Tsirizani followed him and got shocked when he found him in pool of blood with deep cuts in the head.
The matter was reported to the village headman on the same night and was later handed over to police the following morning.
The law enforcers visited the scene and took the body to Kamuzu Central Hospital where a postmortem revealed the death was due to severe head injuries.
Meanwhile, police have instituted an investigation that can lead to arrest of the culprits.
