The opposition Peoples Party (PP) is holding it’s much awaited convention at Robins Park in the commercial capital Blantyre and the convention will run for two days.
Delegates at the convention are expected to elect the party President who will represent the party in the forthcoming 2019 tripartite election.
Former President Dr. Joyce Banda who is also founder of the party is expected to face Leonard Mphiza, the party’s regional secretary for the South on Presidential post at the convention.
Chairman of the PP convention committee Dr. Jerry Jana confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying all the positions are up for grabs.
When asked to disclose the list of aspirants to the convention, Jana said everything will be known during the convention.
Meanwhile Banda is likely to return her seat due to the fact that she is facing a weak opponent.
