Government through Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) has asked newly recruited teachers to report for duties on September 10, 2018, faceofmalawi can reveal.

The development comes barely days after the teachers stormed Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) demanding answers as to why government is delaying in telling them when and where to report for duties.

In a statement released on Tuesday signed by Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education Justin Saidi has given teachers two weeks to report for duties or face the chop.

“The Ministry of Education Science and Technology wishes to inform all the newly recruited IPTE 10, 11 and ODL teachers to report for duties to their assigned schools by the September 10, 2018.

“Anyone who does not report within two weeks from stated date, will be deemed to no longer be interested in holding that post, thereby rendering the post vacant,” read in part the statement in part.

Added the statement: “All relevant stakeholders are requested to support these newly recruited teachers to enable them settle smoothly in their assigned school.”

Meanwhile it is not known as to whether the newly recruited teachers will start receiving salaries this month.
