One person died on Monday after a bicycle he was cycling collided with a motor cycle in Ntchisi District.
Ntchisi Police spokesperson, Gladson M’bumpha identified the deceased as Pilirani Jiwani of Mbutuma Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in the district.
He said the accident occurred at Ng’ombe Trading Centre along the Ng’ombe- Kansonga earth road when an unregistered motorcycle which was being ridden by Tambala Chasowa of John Village also in the same area collided with the bicycle.
“The motor cyclist was speeding and collided with Pilirani, now deceased, who was cycling towards the opposite direction,” said M’bumpha.
According to M’bumpha, Pilirani died on the spot due to head injuries while his passenger, Tsakulani Masitala escaped unhurt.
Chasowa sustained some injuries on his knee and neck.
