President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has directed that the funeral of a renowned theologian and former Cabinet Minister Professor David Mphande who died on Saturday be conducted with military honours, faceofmalawi can reveal.
A military funeral is an honor accorded by the state to deserved citizens but different from the state funeral.
This has been disclosed in a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Cliff Chiunda made available to FOM’s reporter.
“The President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, in his capacity as Commander of the Defence Force, has directed that the burial of late, Former Cabinet Minister, be held under Military Honours,” reads in part the statement.
