Former Speaker of the National Assembly Henry Chimunthu Banda has retired from his retirement and he has rejoined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Chimunthu Banda retired from frontline politics in 2013 after losing the presidential bid to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika during the party convention held at Comesa Hall in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Over the weekend, Chimunthu Banda held a rally in his home district of Nkhotakota together with two councilors.

Earlier this year, rumours were all over that Chimunthu Banda has been promised the post of runngmate by President Mutharika ahead of 2019 polls.
