Addressing followers at Madisi, Kamwe and Engucwini Trading Centres during a whistle-stop tour in the northern region district, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera said he has a policy to construct and establish regional and district universities.
He said national universities will never be enough with the growing demand. “Even in the United States of America (USA) many students faces challenges to access tertiary education.”
Chakwera also promised to abolish the quota system of selecting students to public universities.
To improve agricultural production, Chakwera said he will implement the universal subsidy on farm inputs to benefit all.
The Leader of Opposition in Parliament was in the district to woo eligible voters to register during the voters registration exercise which kick starts today in the region.
