Students from Chancellor College, a constituent college of the University of Malawi (UNIMA) on Thursday went on rampage to protest the closure of the library following the ongoing strike by support staff.

The students were also not happy the lecturers conduct of continuing giving them assignment and exams while the Library is closed.

The students blocked Chirunga road, which leads to the college premises.

One of the students who opted for the condition of anonymity said the students were not amused by the lecturers’ stand on assignment deadlines, arguing that lecturers must extend due dates for assignments because currently, the library is closed due to Unima support staff strike.

He said the students also demand that lecturers must stop forthcoming student exams.

Meanwhile calm has returned at Chancellor College and the Library has been opened, according to an eyewitness.
