Members of Parliament (MP) have been summoned to meet at the August House for the last parliamentary session before forthcoming 2019 tripartite election.

This has been disclosed in a statement released on Monday signed by Clerk of Parliament Fiona Kalemba made available to faceofmalawi.

According to Kalemba, the meeting will run for four weeks starting from November 19, 2018 to December 14, 2018.

“I have the honour to inform you that the Fourth Meeting of the National Assembly in the 47th session of Parliament will be held from November 19, 2018 to December 14, 2018,” read in part the statement.

Although the agenda of the meeting is not known, the hot issue might be the impeachment of Speaker of Palriament Richard Msowoya being championed by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Apart from that, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) led by Timothy Mtambo are lobbying the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to move a motion to impeach President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika over corruption.
