Government through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs has finally come to the rescue of 132 families that were affected by heavy rains in Mzuzu in early October by supplying them with relief food items.
About 952 people were affected by disaster in the townships of Luwinga, Zolozolo, Nkholongo and Lupaso.
Meanwhile, the Mzuzu City Council has warned people who are living in disaster prone areas in the city to abide by the council’s directive to move out of the places earlier as amid of heavy rains in the northern part of Malawi this year.
