Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that an 18-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by a Police officer from Chisepo Police Unit in Dowa district over a facebook post on the incident of the girl who was defiled while in cell.
Father to the victim confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) on Tuesday.
According to the victim’s father, his son was arrested over a facebook post alleging that a police officer from the said unit raped a 14 year old girl.
The police accused the suspect of making false allegations against the law enforcer. It is said that while in police cell one of the law enforcers stabbed the accused on the thigh with a sharp object.
The boy’s father says he paid K30, 000 for his son to be released on bail after he told the police officers he could not manage to pay K500, 000 the police allegedly told him to pay.
Central Region Police Public Relations Officer Kingsley Dandaula said the police are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile the unruly behavior by police officers continues to show its ugly face in the country with little attention from the Inspector General Rodney Jose.
