The High Court is today expected to hear an application from some civil society organisations (CSOs) demanding the resignation of Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya for crossing the floor.
The CSOs argue that Msowoya’s association with United Transformation Movement calls for the application of Section 65 of the Constitution that bars parliamentarians elected on a party ticket from joining another party or grouping which is political.
The Speaker won his seat on the Malawi Congress Party ticket in 2014 Tripartite Elections.
