Forest officer shoots man in an attempt to confiscate bags of Charcoal in Zomba

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that an officer from the forestry department has shot a civilian when he was trying to confiscate bags of charcoal at Chinamwali market in Zomba this morning.
The victim who is yet to be identified, sustained serious injuries and is now receiving treatment at Zomba Central Hospital.
The incident caused commotion in the market as angry vendors ganged up against the office.
It took the intervention of the police to calm down the situation.
