Maxwell Namata who was jailed for his involvement in the plunder of public funds dubbed Cashgate during the reign of former President Dr. Joyce Banda has died in car accident.
Lingazi Police officials’ confirmed of the accident in a statement made available to faceofmalawi reporter.
According to the statement, Namata was driving a Toyota Fortuner registration number BLK 7373 from Bwandiro to heading to Cherubu direction.
Upon reaching Mkwichi Community Day Secondary School Namata lost control of the vehicle to due to over speeding causing the vehicle to overturn.
Namata died on the spot due to internal injuries.
