One of the four Malawian soldiers who were missing following the recent fight in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Corporal George Salimu, has returned to base.

MDF spokesperson Major Paul Chiphwanya confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Corporal Salimu is being treated at a hospital having survived harsh conditions in the jungle following the rebel attack on November 14 that cost lives of six Malawian Soldiers.

The development means that three MDF soldiers namely; Staff Sergeant Chancy Mwakawenga, Sergeant Boniface Noah, and Lance Corporal Gift Nkhoma are still missing.

On Friday, Deputy Minister of Defence Amosi Mailosi revealed that the four MDF soldiers went missing on November 13, 2018.

The Malawi Nation continues to pray for the safe return of the other three.
