Drama as Livingstonia Synod demanded that other political leaders be accorded a chance to say their eulogies, after government representative, Kondwani Nankhumwa concluded his statement.

Livingstonia Synod Secretary General Reverend Levi Nyondo said this after noting that the funeral programme did not honour the presence of the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and leader of opposition Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

“So before we hear the word of God, we allow leader of opposition Dr Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima to give their eulogy,” he said.

Nyondo’s remarks attracted the ululations from thousands of mourners gathered at the funeral.

Master of Ceremony Chimbizga Msimuko who also works with the State controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) tried to calm down the situation by saying doing so will be going against government protocols.

But Nyondo quashed Msimuko’s claims.

It took the intervention of the family member for sanity to prevail.

Meanwhile the funeral ceremony is in progress.
