Democratic Progressive Party Regional Governor in the North, Kenneth Sanga is planning to contest as Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City in the forthcoming 2019 polls.

Sanga disclosed this in an interview with Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Stringer based in Mzuzu on Thursday.

“My candidature to contest in Mzuzu is demand-driven. I have been approached by the committees in the city, having loved the party throughout. I am one of those staunch supporters of the DPP,” said Sanga.

The development means Sanga will face incumbent MP for Mzuzu City Leonard Njikho who recently dumped the DPP and joined the newly registered United Transformation Movement Party of Dr. Saulos Chilima.

The ruling DPP is currently face a tough ride ahead of the forthcoimng 2019 polls due to the recent corruption scandals and other challenges locking the country.
