The police in Limbe Township have arrested seven people in connection with the kidnapping of Mr. Muhammed Shail Zubeda’s son on Tuesday this week.

Tahil Shail, son to Mr. M. Shail Zubedha, owner of Zubedha in Limbe and other businesses in both Blantyre and Lilongwe, was abducted from the house of his uncle on the night of December, 11, 2018, in Mpingwe, house number, 60.

On the fateful night, the boy had just been dropped off at his uncle’s place when unknown people abducted him. The kidnappers later made a ransom demand and threatened to take the boy to Maputo.

The boy was later found alive, after having been damped at Kanjedza mosque.

Police investigations led to the arrest of seven suspects.

The seven have been identified as 23 year old, Hanza Akbar (Malawian of Pakistan Origin 36 year old Salman Khan (Malawian of Pakistan origin), 24 year old Faraz Khan (Malawian of Pakistan origin), 22 year old Shazed Khan (Malawian of Pakistan origin), 21 year old Ibrahim Mataya (Malawian of Pakistan origin) 30 year old Fahim Azafer and 25 year old Lehras Khan, both Pakistan nationals.

The police have also seized two vehicles used when committing the crime.

“All the suspects have been connected by the first suspect. Seizure of car Toyota Fortuner Reg. Number DZ 5044 which was used to kidnap the child from Mpingwe and car Volkswagen POLO reg. Number .CA 1658 which was used to drop the child Kanjedza mosque has been made,” reads in part the police report.

Meanwhile the suspects will appear in court soon.
