Freedom Party (UP) President Khumbo Hastings Kachali who is also former Vice President has disclosed that his party will hold its elective conference in January 2019.

Kachali disclosed this in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

“Friends, I want to update the nation that we, in the Freedom Party, have been holding meetings across the country, building structures in readiness for our elective congress.

“I am happy and satisfied to report that we have made tremendous progress in readiness for the national elective congress which is likely to be held early next year,” wrote Kachali.

He added: “Let me take this opportunity to thank the people of this country for the massive support we enjoyed and continue to have as we prepare for our national elective congress.”

Kachali dumped the opposition People’s Party (PP) in 2017 after leadership squabbles that rocked the party then following the disappearance of former President Dr. Joyce Banda.
