Parliament has today passed the Mines and Minerals Bill without amendments.
However some opposition members of Parliament (MPs) were of the view that the new legislation needed further refining.
The MPs, among them Chitipa North legislator James Munthali and Kasungu West parliamentarian Alex Major argued that in its current state , it still gives room for mining companies to be exploiting communities.
The legislation seeks to regulate the development of mineral resources of Malawi through adherence to sustainable development principles.
