Kanengo police station public relations officer Sub Inspector Esther Mkwamba identified the suspect as Andrew Kalawa who was nabbed on 15 December by CID officers.

Mkwamba said the gun is suspected to have been used in series of robberies that have been taking place in the area.

“Investigations shows that the riffle was used in different robberies including the one that took place in April 2018 at Lilongwe Packaging Plastic Limited (LPPL) Area 28 where Kalawa was working as a casual labour,”said Mkwamba.

The officer added that police are still investigating to arrest his accomplices.

Kalawa hails from village Juma T/A Maganga in Salima district.
