
Former Speaker of Parliament wins DPP Parliamentary primaries

NKHOTAKOTA – Former Speaker of Parliament Henry Chimunthu Banda has won Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Parliamentary primaries elections for Nkhotakota North Constituency with 847 votes, followed by Fyson Saenda who got two.
Incumbent legislator for the constituency Frank Mphande withdrew from the race citing irregularities.
Chimunthu Banda is rumoured to be President Peter Mutharika’s running-mate choice for the 2019 Tripartite Elections.
In 2014, he retired from active politics.
