Police in the capital Lilongwe fired teargas at customers who were scrambling to enter a TNM shop to buy smartphones at a discount of 50 percent, faceofmalawi can reveal.

TNM earlier this week announced that there would be a Green Friday today where some selected smartphones will be sold at cheap price.

The development forced customers across the country to storm TNM shops in search for the smartphones to buy.

In the capital Lilongwe, customers stormed TNM shop situated at Crossroads Branch where they tussled with each other on the entry.

Customers broke the entry glass door of the shop at crossroads injuring some people in the process.

It took the intervention of the police who fired teargas at customers.

While in Mzuzu, TNM customers left the shop in anger after being told that MI max, Blackberry and Huawei tablets are the only handsets available at the shop for the Green Friday sales promotion.
