Unidentified man has on Thursday died after being hit by a motorcycle at Chisoti primary school in Nkhotakota district.
Confirming the incident, the district’s deputy police publicist Constable Paul Malimwe, said the incident occurred on the night of Thursday, along Salima-Nkhotakota M5 road in the district.
Constable Malimwe said, the motorcycle registration number MG 732 AG Yamaha DT 125 was being driven by Kalikokha Meja aged 46 who hails from Makuta village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Malengachanzi in the district.
“The motorcycle which was heading to Nkhotakota from Salima direction was carrying two pillion passengers on the day of incident, and upon arrival at Chisoti primary school, he accidentally hit unknown male pedestrian who reportedly entered the main road from the left side of the road”, Malimwe said.
According to police reports, due to the impact, the deceased sustained severe head injuries and was taken to Nkhotakota District Hospital, where he died whilst receiving treatment.
The rider and two pillion passengers, sustained minor injuries and have been treated as out patients.
Meanwhile, police in the district are appealing to the general public to follow all road safety measures to avoid similar cases.
