Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD) President Peter Dominico Sinosi Driver Kuwani has become the first Presidential aspirant for the forthcoming May 12 tripartite election to pay MK2 million fees to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

According to information at hand, Kuwani paid the nomination fees on Friday last week through FBH Bank in Blantyre.

Kuwani confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting (ZBS) on Sunday.

When asked on claims by some aspirants that the nomination fees is too exorbitant, Kuwani quashed this claims saying MEC is passing through financial hiccups and the said money will help the electoral body run the forthcoming polls smoothly.

Meanwhile, the MMD presidential candidate is looking for a runningmate.

Kuwani placed an advert in a local newspaper last week calling for members of the general public to apply for position of vice president of the movement.
