Police in Chiradzulu have arrested a 16-year-old boy (name withheld) for allegedly stealing money from his employer, Geoffrey Katuma, amounting to K152,000.

Chiradzulu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Yohane Tasowana told Mana on Tuesday that the boy was working as a houseboy at Katuma’s residence and is believed to have stolen the money on December 30 at Jekete Village in Traditional Authority Mpama’s area in the district.

Tasowana said following the boy’s arrest, two others have also been netted over receiving stolen property (money).

The police publicist identified the other two accomplices as Godfrey Katuma, 49, son to the complainant and Tereza John, 26, the boy’s elder sister.

“Our investigations have established that after the money was stolen the boy surrendered K26, 000 to Katuma’s son for safe keeping and later sent the remaining amount to his sister,” Tasowana said.

Both the boy and John hail from Goleka Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kadewere while Katuma comes from Jekete Village in Chief Mpama’s area in the district.
