A 34-year-old woman has been arrested after she was found in possession of medical drugs and live ammunitions by police officers along Chitipa-Kameme earth road.
The suspect has been identified as Verah Phiri from Mwanjawanthu village T/A Zoole, Zambia.
Facts are that on the day of the incident, police officers set up a snap road block along the stated road and in the course of their duties they stopped a motor cycle with registration number T263CAP which was coming from Zambia earth road joining the Chitipa-Kameme earth road.
The officers then demanded a search on the items being carried on the motor cycle.
As they were untying an “expand” on a motor cycle, the male rider who was with the suspect abandoned it escaped leaving behind the female suspect.
Inside the “expand” was a sack bag which contained, 19 packets of Hydralazine Hydrachloride tablets, 9 packets of polygractin suture, 5 bottles of Rabbies vaccines, one bottle of labstatin oral suspension, 1000 tablets of compound magnesium trisilicate, 4 tubes of compound sodium lactate intervenous infusion and 50 live ammunitions of a greener rifle.
Police seized the motorcycle and the above mentioned items.
Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody as the matter is under inquiry.
