Tikonze Alliance President Dr. Cassim Chilumpha has pulled out of the forthcoming May 21 tripartite election following a gland coalition meeting held today in the capital Lilongwe.
Chilumpha disclosed this in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by faceofmalawi reporter.
According to the statement, Tikonze Alliance has decided to Partner with the United Transformation Movement (UTM) under Dr. Saulos Chilima.
“As you are aware, 21 May is fast approaching. The political arena is heated up now. In view of this I would like to announce that I have reversed my decision to compete for the presidency of this country on 21 May, 2019. Furthermore, more let me take this opportunity to announce that Tikonze Alliance has decided to Partner with the United Transformation Movement.
“To all my followers, may you give all the support that you would have given me to Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and the UTM,” said Chilumpha.
In a related development, opposition People’s Party (PP) and Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) have joined forces with UTM in what can be described as a gland coalition.
Meanwhile it is not known as to who will be the Vice President of the alleged coalition.
