The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah has rejected nomination papers for aspiring Presidential Candidate Ras Chikomeni David Chirwa for failure to pay the nomination fees, faceofmalawi can reveal.

Ansah said this at Comesa Hall in the commercial capital Blantyre.

According Ansah, Ras Chikomeni did not make payment for nomination fee, and did not meet a minimum of ten nominators from all districts, thereby sending back the nomination papers.

MEC has since given Ras Chikomeni David Chirwa two days to meet those conditions.

Speaking after the development Ras Chikomeni Chirwa said the nomination fees is discriminatory to the poor.

He said a public office is not for sale.

He also said he did not seek the signatures from districts because he has no structures and that there should be an Independent Act just as there is the Political Act.
