The High Court in Blantyre has set Monday next week to deliver its ruling on Ras Chikomeni’s challenge against Malawi Electoral Commission(MEC), faceofmalawi can reveal.

The High Court Judge Jack Nriva is presiding over the case. MEC is being represented by the Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale.

Chikomeni wants the court to grant him an interpate injunction.

He wants the court to declare that K2 million nomination fee which MEC set is too high for ordinary Malawians and that he should be given more time to collect remaining signatures supporting his candidature.

Chikomeni argues that it does not make sense for the nomination fees to be pegged at K2 million in a country where the minimum wage is K25 thousand.
