Burial of former Minister of State under the then President of the Republic of Malawi Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Patrick Mbewe will take place this coming Wednesday in Chiradzulu district, faceofmalawi can reveal.
Mbewe, one of the founders and Patron of United Democratic Front (UDF) died on Saturday after a long illness.
President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Sunday directed that late Patrick Mbewe be accorded burial with military honors as a former Cabinet Minister.
This was disclosed in a statement released by Mutharika’s Press Officer Mgeme Kalilani made available to faceofmalawi reporter.
According to Kalilani, the decision is in honour of Mbewe’s contribution to the development of the country.
The President has also directed that that he be represented at the funeral ceremony by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kondwani Nankhumwa.
Until his death Mbewe was playing an advisory role to UDF National Executive Council.
