A 20-year-old Zambian mother of two has been arrested following the discovery of her new born baby who was found dumped in a pit latrine on Tuesday in the capital Lusaka.
Tilifolia Banda has since put into police custody where she is waiting to answer charges linked to child destruction of Zambian laws.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the development and said the fetus which was found in a decomposed state has since been retrieved by the fire Brigade.
Katongo said the remains have since been disposed off.
Katongo has stated that the fetus was believed to have been dumped on the 27th January, 2019 around 22:00 hours.
