The High Court in Blantyre has rejected an application for injunction made by presidential aspirant Ras Chikomeni David Chirwa against the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Ras Chikomeni applied for an injunction restraining MEC from revising the K2 million presidential nomination fee and allow an extension for him to obtain the required 10 signatures in each of the country’s 28 districts.

RasChikomeni took MEC to court after his nomination papers for the #2019Elections were rejected by the electoral body earlier this month.

Last week High Court Judge Jack Nriva received his ruling on the matter and adjourned the case to today.

When the case resumed today, Judge Nriva dismissed Chikomeni’s application, saying the application lacks basis.

Meanwhile Chikomeni has promised to challenge the ruling.
