The incident to place in Kachok area, along the Nairobi-Kisumu highway and according to eye witnesses the deceased jumped from a footbridge before he was hit by the Nairobi-bound bus.
A man in Kisumu died on the spot after being hit by a speeding bus in Kachok area, along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway. The incident happened on Thursday, February 28, at around 10pm.
Eye witnesses said the deceased who was on a footbridge near Lions High School timed a bus heading to Nairobi and threw himself in from it down from the footbridge.
According to the eye witnesses familiar with the deceased, the man had bitterly quarreled with his girlfriend that evening. They said that he looked troubled the while after the altercation before resorting to take his own life.
The incident led to a traffic snarl-up along the highway for hours before the disfigured body was finally removed.
The body is lying at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. A similar incident happened in Kayole area, Naivasha after a man threw himself in front of a speeding truck which crushed him to death.
A suicide note indicating that he had chosen to take his own life after discovering his fiancee was having an affair with his friend was found in his pocket.
