 Police in Ntchisi have on Saturday arrested a 12-year-old boy for allegedly murdering his fellow teenager over Gule Wamkulu dancing practices in the district.

Confirming the incident the district’s police publicist Sergeant Gladson M’bumpha identified the deceased as James Amos aged 13 who hailed from Chiyendera Mwano Village, whereas the suspect (name withheld) hails from Kapondera Village, all from the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Vusojere in the district.

According to Sergeant M’bumpha on March 2 this year, around 9am the deceased together with his three friends including the suspect went to Gule Wamkulu camp within the village to practice some dancing styles

“Whilst there, they all choose to practice Makanja and as the deceased was dancing he fell down and as a matter of punishment the suspect took a piece of wood and hit the deceased heavily in the head that caused him to collapse and died on the spot” Said  Sergeant M’bumpha.

One of the boys run away from the camp and reported the matter to the deceased’s parents who informed the village headman of the area who later also informed the police.

Later on, police visited the scene and took the dead body to Ntchisi District Hospital.

Postmortem conducted at the hospital revealed that death was due to head injury.

Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody and will appear before court soon to answer murder charge.
