The peaceful protest organized by Association of People with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) is yet to commence in the capital Lilongwe due to rains.
The peaceful protest was expected to commence scheduled to start at 08:00 from Lilongwe Community Centre Ground to an area 100 metres far from the State House where they are expected to hold vigils.
This comes after Lilongwe City Council’s warning on Monday advising the association against holding vigils at the palace citing Section 103 of the Police Act which restricts demonstrations or assembly within State residences.
Currently, there are less than 50 people with albinism present on the ground but APAM President, Overstone Kondowe, says 300 people with albinism are expected to join the march.
