Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for South Kondwani Nankhumwa on Wednesday had an audience with aspiring Independent President Ras Chikomeni David Chirwa in the capital Lilongwe.
Although the agenda of the meeting is not known up now, inside sources have told this publication that the meeting was centered on a political alliance ahead of the forthcoming May 21, 2019 tripartite election.
Nankhumwa confirmed of the meeting in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by faceofmalawi reporter but could not diverge more details on the meeting.
“Today I had an audience with Ras Chikomeni David Chirwa, his runningmate Myness Cathleen Kayange, Ras Ray Harawa and other influential members of the Rastafarian community.
“The meeting was very fruitful,” reads in part the statement.
He added: “Tiyende pamodzi ndi mtima umodzi!”
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) rejected Chikomeni’s presidential nomination papers on grounds that he failed to pay nomination fees of Mk2 million.
MEC also accused Ras Chikomeni of failing to solicit 10 nominations signatures from 10 of the 18 districts of Malawi.
But this did not go down well with Ras Chikomeni who later dragged the Malawi Electoral commission (MEC) led by its Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah SC to court.
Unfortunately the High Court Judged dismissed Chikomeni application.
