Police in Chiradzulu have arrested 21-year-old Francis Mataya for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
Mataya, a Form 3 student at St. Albert Private Secondary School was arrested on Monday, 11 March, 2019.
He is said to have gone to Mwanje ADMARC depot and claimed to be a police officer from Chiradzulu Police Station.
Upon being asked why he was there, it is alleged that he told an ADMARC clerk that he was investigating a corruption case.
Having being taken to the ADMARC office, the suspect raised some suspicion on how he was signing the visitor’s book.
Following this, Mataya was detained in the office and the matter was reported to the police.
Mataya hails from Manjeza village in the area of Traditional authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu District.
