Police are on the manhunt for a driver on charges of reckless driving as his vehicle overturned claiming lives of two people and injuring ten others on Sunday at Mamina Village along the Ntchisi – Mponela road
Ntchisi Police spokesperson, Gladson M‘bumpha said the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number IT 5470 which was being driven by Saukani Sipedi as he was driving from the Boma going to Mponela, loaded with bags of maize as well as 12 passengers.
According to M’bumpha, the vehicle overturned due to speeding injuring all the passengers on board.
“The injured were taken to Ntchisi District Hospital where the two died upon arrival,” he said, adding that others are still receiving treatment at the health facility.
He identified the deceased as Kachepatsonga Mabulawo, 54, from Chiwaliwali Village and Agnes Chunga, 43, from Chiombola Village, both in Traditional Authority Kalumo in the district.
Meanwhile, police are looking for the driver of the vehicle who is currently at large. Once found, he will answer the charge of causing death by reckless driving.
