Following the death of aspiring candidate for Blantyre West Constituency George Kajumo, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has stopped electoral proceeding in the constituency.
The commission says all nomination that were done in the constituency are void. And has set March 23 for submission of fresh nominations. Candidates who already submitted will only be required to confirm their intention in writing to the Constituency Returning Officer Greyson Muhasuwa.
But for those interested to contest nomination papers will be available from the office of the Returning Officer for Blantyre West, according to MEC.
Kajumo who was contesting as an independent candidate died on March 7 at Blantyre Adventist Hospital.
