The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has postponed the demonstrations that were scheduled for March 27, 2019.
In a press statement released on March 23 signed by HRDC Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, Timothy Mtambo and Gift Trapence respectively, cites that the decision to postpone the demonstrations was arrived at considering the state the country is currently in following the recent floods that affected most parts in the Southern Region.
“Currently the country is in a somber mood due to heavy rains that resulted into floods, it will be very unfortunate for us to go on with the demonstrations whilst our friends are crying,” said Mtambo.
However, HRDC has said they will keep monitoring the political landscape and will be announcing the new date for the nationwide demonstrations in due course.
The demonstrations were organized in a bid to force government to address some of the challenges the country is facing.
