Former Nigeria president Olusegun Obasanjo makes dramatic u-turn on planned appearance at the Presidential Debate tonight as he leaves Lilongwe.
Earlier, reports indicated that Obasanjo will be attending the first Presidential candidates scheduled to take place at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) where candidates namely; Saulos Chilima of United Tranformation Movement (UTM), Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Atupele Muluzi of United Democratic Front (UDF) will face off.
According to published reports, Obasanjo was expected to be guest of honour at the first Presidential debate ahead of the forthcoming May 21 polls.
But reports indicate that Obasanjo will leave the country today before the said debate.
It is not known as to what has been him to change his heart toward the much awaited debate.
Meanwhile President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has pulled out of the debate.
