Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) has appealed to South Africa’s president Cyril Ramaphosa to end xenophobic attacks on Malawians.

Bushiri was speaking at his church in Pretoria while responding to the gracious message of goodwill from president Ramaphosa.

“I would like to appeal to President Ramaphosa to act and put an end to xenophobic attacks on Malawians happening in Durban,” pleaded Bushiri.

He further added that he is shocked to see images of violence and death due to these attacks.

“I am a Malawian and it shocks me seeing images of violence and death due to these attacks, we are all Africans, let’s learn to live and coexists together,” he said.

Meanwhile the government has condemned the act.

“We urge law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of these violent acts are brought to book,” the state communication development said.

Xenophobic attacks are raging in Durban which has forced many to seek shelter in community halls, mosques, churches and police stations.
