Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) has barred students from writing end of semester examinations due to unpaid fees.
Luanar’s vice chancellor, Professor George Kanyama Phiri confirmed the development saying about 450 students out of the 9, 000 have not paid their school fees and they will not be allowed to write end of semester examinations.
“Out of 9, 000 students, about 450 have not settled their fees balances and they will not be allowed to write exams,” said Kanyama Phiri.
He further added that Luanar students owe the university MK1 billion through unpaid tuition fees as some students were allowed to write exams without paying their school fees last year.
“Luanar students owe the university about MK1 billion through unpaid tuition fees. Last year the students were allowed to write examination but they did not pay schools fees,” he said.
Meanwhile, some students have appealed to well-wishers to help them with school fees.
